It’s a Lie: Aisha Buhari Not Marrying Ex-Minister Pantami – Bashir Ahmad

Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, has dismissed as false the viral claims that former First Lady Aisha Buhari is planning to marry ex-Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami.

The rumour, which spread widely across social media platforms, alleged that Aisha Buhari was set to remarry Pantami, with some posts even sharing purported “pre-wedding” images. The claim quickly generated public debate and reactions online.

Reacting to the development, Bashir Ahmad described the story as a blatant lie and deliberate misinformation, urging the public to disregard it. He stated clearly that there is no truth whatsoever to the reports and that no such marriage plans exist.

Investigations and fact-checks by multiple media outlets also revealed that the images circulating online to support the claim were digitally manipulated and AI-generated, further confirming that the story was fabricated.

There has been no official statement from either Aisha Buhari or Isa Ali Pantami indicating any intention to marry, and close associates of the former First Lady have also dismissed the reports as baseless.

Observers note that the rumour may have been fueled by speculation following Aisha Buhari’s completion of the Islamic mourning period after the death of her husband, former President Muhammadu Buhari, in July 2025. However, there is no credible evidence to support the marriage claim.

The development highlights growing concerns over the spread of fake news and digitally altered content on social media, with public figures often targeted by unverified and misleading reports.

Members of the public have been advised to rely only on credible news sources and verified statements when consuming or sharing sensitive information involving prominent individuals.
