Social media reports on Wednesday night, December 31, 2025, claimed that the Ipele Divisional Police Headquarters in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State was attacked by a group of armed men.

The statement, allegedly signed by DSP Abayomi Jimoh, identified as the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), states that:

The attack occurred at about 9:41 p.m. on December 31, 2025

The attackers used assault rifles and dynamite

The divisional headquarters building and exhibits were destroyed

No lives were lost during the attack

No church was attacked, countering rumors spreading online

A joint security team comprising the Police, Military, and NSCDC responded, but the attackers had already fled

Tactical units, including EOD teams, have been deployed

A manhunt has been launched on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal
