Oyo School Abduction: Atiku’s Aide Urges DSS to Question Igboho Over Kidnap Claims
Paul Ibe says security agencies should invite Sunday Igboho to provide information on individuals allegedly linked to the kidnapping of students and teachers in Oyo State.
Abuja, Nigeria — A media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies to invite Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, for questioning over his recent claims regarding the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State.
Ibe made the call following comments attributed to Igboho, in which he reportedly claimed to know individuals allegedly connected to the kidnapping of schoolchildren and their teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
According to Ibe, if Igboho indeed possesses credible information that could assist security agencies in identifying and apprehending those responsible for the abduction, such information should be made available immediately to aid rescue efforts and strengthen ongoing investigations.
Speaking on the matter, Ibe stated that security agencies should not ignore any lead that could help uncover those behind the crime and secure the safe release of the victims.
“Since Sunday Igboho claims to know those behind the abduction of students and teachers in Oriire, Oyo State, the DSS and other security agencies need to invite him to provide the names and any useful information in his possession,” Ibe reportedly said.
He emphasized that protecting the lives of innocent Nigerians should remain a top priority and urged all individuals with relevant information to cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities.
Ibe also expressed concern over the growing wave of insecurity across the country, noting that incidents involving the abduction of schoolchildren continue to generate fear among parents and communities. He called for intensified efforts by security agencies to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities threatening public safety.
The call comes amid increasing public concern over the security situation in parts of the country, particularly attacks targeting schools and rural communities. Security agencies have continued efforts to rescue victims and bring perpetrators to justice.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Department of State Services nor Sunday Igboho had issued an official response to the remarks made by Atiku Abubakar’s aide.
Public Concern Over School Security
The latest incident has once again highlighted the need for stronger security measures around schools and vulnerable communities. Stakeholders have continued to advocate improved intelligence gathering, rapid response mechanisms, and greater collaboration between citizens and security agencies.
Many Nigerians believe that anyone with useful information concerning criminal activities should assist authorities in the interest of public safety and national security.
